General Policies

Acdemic Honesty

Students in both tracks of the BSN program must sign a statement relating to the concepts of academic honesty. The original Statement of Academic Honesty will be retained in the student's file and a copy will be returned to the student. Violation of the academic honesty policy may serve as grounds for course failure, and/or probation, suspension, or a permanent dismissal from the program.

  • All work submitted in any course of the nursing program must be the student's independent work unless the faculty member has indicated that group work is acceptable.
  • Unauthorized collaboration with another student will be considered cheating.
  • Plagiarism of another individual or group's work will be viewed as cheating.
  • Ideas or quotes taken from the work of others must be referenced or it will be viewed as an act of plagiarism.
  • Students may be asked to supply documentation supporting the independence of work. Documentation may be in the form of rough drafts, note cards, copies of reference material or any other material deemed appropriate by the faculty.
  • Students suspected of academic dishonesty will be formally notified by a faculty member.
  • The penalty for academic dishonesty will range from a grade of zero "0" on the specific assignment to dismissal from the program.
  • A faculty committee may be convened to review student/faculty evidence as a part of the appeal process.
  • Students who are placed on probation, suspended or dismissed for academic dishonesty by the School of Nursing or the University will be ineligible to continue in the nursing program and ineligible for readmission to the program.
