CPR Certification
Students in both tracks of the BSN program must be certified in CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) prior to enrollment in clinical courses. Once obtained, CPR Certification must remain current throughout the student's tenure in the BSN program.
- Students must obtain certification through the American Heart Association by completing the BLS Healthcare Provider Course. This course is designed to teach the skills of CPR for victims of all ages, use of an automated external defibrillator and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction. It is intended for participants who provide heath care to patients in a wide variety of settings.
- Current CPR certification is required based on the policies of related clinical practice sites.
- Verification of CPR certification is required and proof may be requested on demand. It is the student's responsibility to carry their CPR certification card to all clinical experiences and to provide the School of Nursing with documentation of CPR certification on an annual basis.
