General Information

This is a week-long program offered during the summer months targeting high schools students who have expressed an interest in nursing as a career.  This program will address existing stereotypes regarding nurses and nursing; educational requirements for entry into nursing; professional opportunities and career tracks available to nurses; and personal, professional and financial rewards.

Activities during the week will include simulated patient care scenarios using the SIM Baby and SIM Man; tours of various clinical facilities; presentations by nurse leaders from the surrounding communities; basic first aid skills and training in CPR.  All participants will receive CPR certification and a $250 stipend at the conclusion of the week.  A graduation ceremony and cook-out will be held for the campers and nursing participants. Nursing faculty, current CSU nursing students and the student’s family will be invited to attend as a show of support for these students.
